For all winter conditions, the Winter Contagrip® uses a unique compound that maintains adhesion in freezing temperatures. Lug patterns depend on usage.

A flexible, lightweight, full waterproof bootie to ensure complete weather protection.
INSULATION TECHNOLOGY: Thinsulate™ 200gr
Warm, thin, light and highly breathable, 200 gram Thinsulate™ Insulation is recommended for cool conditions and high activity levels where the wearer generates a lot of body heat.
MIDSOLE: EnergyCell
A high performance EVA foam that provides shock attenuation.
CHASSIS: Advanced Chassis™
Advanced Chassis™ is a molded insert embedded in the outsole. Providing strong lateral support and reassuring protection, it also delivers optimal mobility and flexibility.

These boots have been gamechangers. Bought them after struggling to use my old winter boots without pain after 20 minutes. The salomons are excellent, well cushioned but not overly so. Firm and supportive but pleasant to walk on. Almost reminiscent of some of new balance sneakers in comfort. Insole is nice and comfortable. They are a bit narrow so I went a full size up and it's worked out fine. The lacing system is appreciated when I need to put these on quickly in the morning to head out. My only gripe is that 200 grams of insulation is not really enough for a bad canadian winter day, specially when standing around. However it's more of a nitpick than a real problem with the boot. Some warm merino wool socks or other thermal socks help a lot with the feel. Other than that, the uppers are nice and padded. Very comfortable and you don't really feel anything but the padding on your foot. Again, pleasantly surprised. These can even handle fairly deep snow without much trouble. They can't really grip on ice too well though. But honestly without crampons it's hard for any shoe to keep steady on ice.
